The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead launches a class to boost strength and fitness for snow sports

Anyone that’s ever been skiing or snowboarding will know how tough a workout snow sports can provide. We’re talking raised heart rates, burning legs and core strength like no other. Leaving the slopes dripping with sweat and catching your breath aren’t exactly uncommon.
The Snow Centre in Hemel Hempstead has now launched a new class called Snow Boot Camp at their indoor snow slopes to help boost the strength and fitness needed for challenging snow sports, all taking place on the snow itself.
Snow sports instructor and personal trainer Josh Eastham has devised a class that not only hones in on skills you’ll need out on the slopes but also really boosts fitness and fat burn, so you’ll benefit even if you’re not preparing for the piste. The moves involve everything from balance exercises and kettlebells to kickboxing. ‘It’s a good idea to improve your technique on an indoor slope before your holiday, but we’re aiming to take that one step further by building up stamina and preparing the right muscle groups for the mountains,’ explains Josh.
And if you aren’t preparing for a snow holiday this winter, then trying Snow Boot Camp might be just what you need to rev up your gym routine. It’s different, fun and effective, as working out on the snow provides an extra challenge in the added resistance. As well as this, it takes more work to increase your core temperature thanks to the cold conditions.
Snow Boot Camp takes place at The Snow Centre, Hemel Hempstead on three early mornings and three evenings during the week and costs £15 per session. For more details and to book, go to or call 0845 258 9000.
