The TV presenter and running enthusiast, 29, talks about her passion for exercise

How often do you exercise?
Usually, I train five times a week. I’ve been working with my trainer Vinnie Freeman (vinniefreemanpt.co.uk) for six months at his gym in Marble Arch, London. We train twice a week and do everything from boxing to circuits, upper body work and plyometrics. When he tells me we’re going to be doing “giant circuits”, I shudder. It’s 
a 25-minute circuit of five exercises, such 
as weighted squats and chest presses. We do 10 reps of each, and six sets, without stopping. It’s seriously high intensity, but 
I always feel great afterwards.

What’s your favourite exercise?
I love running. It’s in my heart. I ran the 400m at a national level until I was 14. At school, 
I also played hockey and rounders and was part of the athletics team. I’ve had four operations on my knee, though, so my running time is limited. I’m just going to enjoy it as 
much as I can, for as long as I can.

Do you like to challenge yourself?
Yeah, I took part in the Macmillan Cancer Support Cycletta events this year. I’m a big supporter of Macmillan and wanted to help out because I cycle everywhere I go in London. We cycled 40K and it was quite challenging, but it was a great atmosphere.

How do you achieve a work/life balance?
It’s tough fitting in exercise around a busy work schedule, but I tend to work out in the mornings to get it done and dusted. I’ll usually work out between 7.30 and 9am. I find exercise is important, not only aesthetically when you’re working on TV, but also to help you cope with the stress and pressure of the fast-paced work. Eating well and keeping active gives me a clear head, and I aim to drink 
at least three litres of water a day.

How was your Olympic experience?
I was so pleased to have had the opportunity to work during the Olympics – it was a career highlight for me. 
I commentated at the beach volleyball at Horse Guards Parade, and in Hyde park for the swimming marathon and the triathlon. Seeing the Brownlee brothers winning gold and bronze was an amazing experience. I’d already signed up to the London Triathlon in a team, but it has made me want to do a full triathlon myself.

What are your beauty secrets?
My hair is always over-styled, so I use Moroccanoil Restorative Hair Mask (£30.45; moroccanoil.co.uk) regularly. I buff my skin with body scrubs and always wear fake tan gloss, such as the St Tropez Instant Shimmer Stick (£15.32; st-tropez.com), on my legs if I’m wearing a skirt or shorts. I find even something as simple as painting my nails and toenails makes me feel more confident when I have a night on the tiles. You definitely have to work with what you’ve got, but when you’ve exercised and eaten well, that gives you confidence.’
